Job summary

Summit at Snoqualmie is seeking a Terrain Park Hand Crew Media Specialist to support both terrain park operations and the marketing team. You will help maintain features, educate guests on safety, and create engaging content for social media.

Ideal candidates are strong skiers or snowboarders with camera experience (GoPro), able to work varied hours, and comfortable collaborating across departments to enhance the guest experience at Seattle's in-state mountain.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to collaborate with multiple departments and team members effectively.
  • Must be an advanced level or higher skier or snowboarder, comfortable with skiing/riding with a camera per GoPro or similar.
  • Strong customer service orientation (good with people).
  • Ability to have consistent attendance.
  • Excellent work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work variable hours depending upon seasonal conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain park features, signage, and safety standards.

  • Capture and edit IG stories for submission to marketing; support events.
  • Act as liaison between terrain parks and marketing department.

Be part of a team that creates an amazing terrain park experience.

The Terrain Park Hand Crew Media Specialist is unique role supporting both Terrain Park hand crew and the Summit at Snoqualmie’s Marketing Team. Its primary role, as part of the Terrain Park Crew will focus on making the guest park experience the best it can be, through maintenance, teaching park etiquette, and offering help whenever we can. Park Crew are often the first park employees that guests interact with, so we encourage crew to share their love of our winter sports through positive interactions.

Come work and play at Seattle’s home mountain, The Summit at Snoqualmie. Located an hour West of Seattle via Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, The Summit includes four unique mountain areas, a snow tubing park, Nordic center, SnowSports School, and 10+ food and beverage establishments.

Responsibilities

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

Long Term Thinking
  • Work to create a park culture which is inclusive, creative, collaborative, with a safety-oriented mindset
  • Participate in reoccurring strategy meetings with terrain park leadership team and marketing team
Excellence in Execution
  • Check the following are installed: entrance ropes/closure, boundary fence, Park SMART signage is visible and legible.
  • Open and close the Park
  • Flagging feature’s (jumps) takeoff and landing areas
  • Inspecting rail, box and jib features (take offs, sides, landings, surfaces of the feature)
  • Testing Features (physically testing (ski or snowboard) the feature) to check for safety for guests
  • With ski through evaluation conducted and signage, ropes, closures, etc., in place, the park staff will call dispatch and report the opening of the park,
  • New features require sign-off from Park lead, Ski Patrol, Mtn Ops and Risk Manager.
  • Staff will circulate through (ski or snowboard) terrain parks regularly, making sure:
    • Signage is visible and legible.
    • Park Boundaries are in place.
    • Rope lines are tight and neat.
    • Perform maintenance on features showing wear; i.e. rutted or kinked take-offs, holes in landings, thin spots, or holes in the in-run, any safety issues, etc.
    • Frequently check all jib features for maintenance needs, i.e. burrs on sliding surfaces, broken skirting, broken rivets, jibs that are leaning over / loose, etc.
    • Assist Patrol with any incidents, or incident investigations.
    • Communicate & educate guests about the Terrain Park, use Park SMART for reference.
    • Pick up trash: under the lift, in front of/inside top shack, and yurt
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Closing the park:
    • Taking down ropes, fences, signs for groomers
    • Perform 360 maintenance on all park features (requires skiing and snowboarding)
    • Transport bamboo to correct locations (ski or snowmobile)
    • Locking up tools, radios and buildings prior to leaving
    • Strong eye for composition, lighting, timing, and storytelling when producing content

  • Collaborate with Park Grooming on complex projects including new feature construction, jib installation/removal, and special event course preparation

  • Work in conjunction with the marketing team to provide operations updates to our guests
  • Provide timely terrain park conditions updates
  • Organize, capture and edit IG stories for submission to the marketing department for posting
  • Supplement marketing teams event planning and media capture
  • Act as a liaison between terrain parks and marketing department
Qualifications

  • Familiarity with terrain park culture, terminology, and etiquette

Wage And Benefit Info

The wage range for this positions is: from $24.00-27.00/hr DOE

This is a non-benefited role.

All individuals may contribute to the 401(k). An employee must work 1,000 hours in a calendar year to qualify for the discretionary match (there is a 2 year vesting cliff).

All individuals accrue sick time at 1 hour per 40 hours worked to a maximum of 64 hours per year.
