TERM INSTRUCTOR - NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING POOL

Position Summary: Provide instruction in various Nondestructive Testing (NDT) methods using laboratory, lecture, and modeling approaches, in accordance with ASNT’s SNT‑TC‑TC1A and National Aerospace Standard NAS‑410. The instructor will cover all five disciplines offered by Del Mar College—Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, Radiography, and Ultrasonic—and must possess a working knowledge of each. Candidates must be willing to obtain Level‑II certification in all five disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands‑on laboratory instruction for all five NDT disciplines.
• Teach lecture and modeling sessions aligned with ASNT and NAS standards.
• Develop, review, and maintain curriculum and instructional materials.
• Assist students with inspection techniques and data interpretation.
• Prepare assignments and assessments for students.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Basic knowledge of various inspection techniques.
• Ability to complete an inspection with less than normal supervision.
• Locate, interpret, and apply technique data.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate of Applied Science degree in Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT).
• Minimum five (5) years of documented work experience in the field.
• Level II certification in one or more NDT processes.
• OR
• Minimum eight (8) years of documented work experience in the field.
• Level II certification in one or more NDT processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Level III certification in one or more NDT processes.
• Willingness to pursue Level III certification in all NDT processes.

Benefits and Compensation

Salary: $58,760 per 9 months. Position is a faculty appointment for part‑time, temporary, hourly assignments.
