NC State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Elementary Teacher Education, affiliated with undergraduate and graduate programs within TELS. The appointment includes teaching, research, service, and outreach responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will lead research on pre-service teacher preparation, teach elementary education courses (including social studies), and collaborate with schools and colleges across North Carolina to advance teaching and learning.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Teacher Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Elementary Education, or a related field.
• Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in elementary education.
• K-6 teaching experience.
• Scholarship and funding record commensurate with experience.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, extension, and service.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to support students with varied academic and professional needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of scholarly research, publication, and grant-writing activity aligned with a tenure-track position.
• Produce high-quality research on pre-service teacher preparation programs, features, and impact.
• Seek external funding for research and development activities.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary education, with a preference for social studies education.
• Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students and serve on doctoral committees.
• Engage in collaborative research with faculty and centers (e.g., Friday Institute, Belk Center) across the university.
• Provide service and leadership in the elementary education program, department, college, and university.
• Engage with underserved communities and stakeholders across North Carolina.
