Job summary

NC State University’s College of Education invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Elementary Teacher Education affiliated with undergraduate and graduate programs. The position emphasizes preparing pre-service teachers and research on elementary teacher preparation, including modality and pathways.

The candidate will teach courses, engage in scholarship, and collaborate with the Friday Institute and Belk Center while serving the department and university.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Teacher Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Elementary Education, or a related field.
• Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in elementary education.
• K-6 teaching experience.
• Scholarship and funding record commensurate with experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to secure external funding for research and development.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of scholarly research, publication, and grant‑writing activity.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary education with emphasis on social studies.
• Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students; serve on doctoral committees.
• Engage in outreach and engagement with elementary schools in North Carolina.
• Provide service and leadership to the department, college, and university.
