Job summary

Malcolm X College is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach General Biology. The ideal candidate will design courses to meet outcomes and engage diverse students through active learning and critical thinking.

The role emphasizes online and in-person instruction, equity, and community college values. Salary is determined by the collective bargaining agreement, with benefits including health, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the life sciences field; fields include biology and related disciplines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with online teaching (Zoom) is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Brightspace or similar LMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote active participation.
• Create an effective learning environment that fosters curiosity and problem-solving.
• Use formative and summative assessments to ensure student learning outcomes.
• Support students’ academic, personal and career goals and foster inclusive classrooms.
• Provide leadership in student academic and professional communities and promote collaboration.
• Complete tenure process in six semesters.
