Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago seeks a tenure-track, full-time Biology faculty member to teach General Biology at Malcolm X College. The candidate should implement effective teaching methods, engage students in critical thinking, and support diverse learners across campus environments.

The role requires the ability to design courses aligned with outcomes, contribute to student success, and participate in tenure review processes while promoting collaborative work within the college community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in the life sciences field (e.g., Biology, Zoology, Genetics).
• Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or similar LMS is preferred.
• Prior online teaching experience and online teaching certification are strongly preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with diverse groups of students and staff.
• Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population and open-access mission.
• Willingness to teach at Malcolm X satellite campuses.

Responsibilities

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote active student participation.
• Create an effective learning environment to foster curiosity and problem solving.
• Use diverse assessments to ensure learning outcomes are met.
• Help students achieve academic, personal, and career goals in a respectful setting.
• Lead and collaborate within student communities and promote teamwork.
• Complete the 6-semester tenure process.
