Job summary

Xavier University’s Department of Speech, Language, and Communication Sciences invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2027 to help build a new academic program.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in speech-language pathology, supervise practicum, maintain an active research agenda, advise students, and participate in service as the department grows toward a planned 2031 graduate program launch.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or closely related field.
• ABD candidates may be considered provided that all requirements for the doctorate will be completed by August 1, 2027.
• CCC-SLP or eligibility to obtain CCC-SLP prior to appointment.
• Experience supervising students in a clinical/practicum/CFY setting.
• Evidence of effective college- or university-level teaching or potential for teaching excellence.
• Evidence of an active or emerging research agenda and potential for continued scholarly productivity.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to student advising and mentoring.
• Commitment to Xavier University's Jesuit Catholic educational tradition.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in speech-language pathology as part of SLCS.
• Supervise students in clinical and practicum experiences.
• Maintain an active research agenda.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Participate in departmental, university, professional, and community service.
• Contribute to development of graduate curriculum as the program launches in 2031.
