Smith College's Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2027. We welcome candidates in computational/theoretical chemistry who will teach General Chemistry and upper-level courses that align with their expertise.

Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry is expected by appointment; postdoctoral work or college-level teaching experience are valued.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry by the time of appointment.
• Postdoctoral research and/or college-level teaching experience preferred.
• Candidates from groups underrepresented in Chemistry are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Teach General Chemistry and upper-level courses aligned with expertise.
• Develop and maintain a dynamic curriculum responsive to Smith’s students.
• Establish an active undergraduate research program with student participation.
