Job summary

Holyoke Community College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Biology faculty member to teach Anatomy and Physiology I & II, plus related biology courses, including laboratory sections, on campus.

The successful candidate will implement inclusive teaching practices, advise students, participate in curriculum development, assessment, and service, and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen programs and engage with the college and community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Biology or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 2 years teaching Anatomy and Physiology including lab and lecture.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching using varied pedagogical strategies.
• Experience using technology in both classroom and laboratory settings to enhance learning.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on projects and initiatives.
• Commitment to Holyoke Community College mission, diversity and inclusive teaching.
• Dedication to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the academic environment.
• Doctorate in biology or closely related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach a full-time courseload consisting primarily of anatomy and physiology lab and lecture courses.
• Collaborate with Biology Department faculty to develop inclusive laboratory teaching methods.
• Implement and evaluate research-based pedagogical strategies to support diverse learners.
• Support student learning through mentoring and accessible office hours.
• Regularly update syllabi and contribute to curricula and lab handouts.
• Develop and assess student learning outcomes and engage in program assessment and development.
• Participate in college governance, service, and community outreach.
