Job summary

Maricopa County Elections is seeking a Temporary Trainer for the Election season to oversee training arrangements and logistics for support staff across multiple locations. You will prepare and distribute materials, assist trainers, and co-facilitate classes with Elections Trainers under the Training Manager.

Travel to off-site facilities is required; overtime during peak cycles is mandatory. Strong MS Office skills, communications, and public speaking are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, clerical, or training duties.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Co-facilitate off-site training classes with Elections Trainers.
  • Distribute training materials and manage classroom resets.
  • Develop and review training materials for poll workers.
  • Provide guidance to poll workers, answer questions via hotline, and dispatch assistance.
  • Assist with building packets and binders with site-specific resources for inspectors and hotline workers.
  • Support other Elections divisions with daily functions and activities.

Pay for this position is $23/hourly.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek. Hours may vary from Part-time to Full-time hours based on business needs

About the Position

It's election season, and we need your help! Election season is a crucial time for accuracy and expediency. If you want to be a part of one of the most important government tasks, this position is for you! The Temporary Trainer oversees arrangements and logistics for training election support staff, assisting with training operations for over 2,000 poll workers across multiple locations. Reporting to the Training Manager, the Temporary Trainer prepares and distributes materials, supports trainers as needed, and, once trained, co-facilitates classes with Elections Trainers.

We Require

Other Requirements
  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary

Job Contributions
  • Assists with coaching and co-facilitating off-site training classes with Elections Trainers
  • Assists with the distribution of training materials, classroom resets, and collection and entry of training survey data

  • Provides guidance to poll workers, answers questions via hotline phone, enters tickets, and dispatches assistance to locations via ticketing system
  • Assists with building packets and binders with site-specific resources for inspectors, troubleshooters, and hotline workers
  • Assists other divisions of Elections with their daily functions and activities
Working Conditions

This position requires:

  • Travel to off-site training facilities
  • Mandatory overtime during election cycles, including evenings, holidays, and weekends
  • The ability to sit or stand for an extended period, to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist of up to 25 pounds and carry for 100 feet, and the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds for 200 feet
  • Must not engage in any political discussion while on duty/at work
