Job summary

Maricopa County Elections is seeking a Temporary Pre-Tabulation Room Attendant I to support the election process by loading, unloading, and transporting trays of early ballots within the assigned workspace. You will also assist with organizing affidavits for retention and audit purposes.

The role requires basic calculator use, a high school diploma or GED, and eligibility to vote in Arizona. Overtime is mandatory during election cycles, with shift variability from part-time to full-time as

Responsibilities

• Transports ballots on wheeled racks and carts within the room and keeps them organized.
• Distributes and collects trays of early ballots to and from processing tables, ensuring each tray has complete documentation.
• Delivers processed trays to the Quality Control area within the room, staging trays and paperwork.
• Removes processed affidavits from trays, loads ballot trays onto carts for delivery to the Ballot Tabulation Center.
• Helps prepare processed affidavits for retention by boxing and labeling them for auditing.
• Organizes retention boxes in numerical order and moves them to storage area.
• Assists supervisory staff by identifying processing tables that need assistance.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek. Hours may vary from Part-time to Full-time hours based on business needs.

You will also assist with organizing and storing processed affidavits for retention and audit purposes.

We Require

• Experience utilizing a calculator or similar device
• A high school diploma or GED

Other Requirements

• Must successfully complete a background screening
• Must be eligible to vote in Arizona
• M andatory overtime during all election cycles

Job Contributions

• Transports ballots on wheeled racks and carts within the room and keeps them properly organized
• Distributes and collects trays of early ballots to and from processing tables, ensuring each tray has complete documentation
• Delivers processed trays to the Quality Control area within the room, properly staging trays and paperwork
• Removes processed affidavits from trays reviewed by QC, verifies their accuracy, and loads ballot trays onto carts for delivery to the Ballot Tabulation Center
• Helps prepare processed affidavits for retention by carefully boxing and labeling them to ensure accurate auditing
• Organizes retention boxes in numerical order and moves them to the designated storage area
• Assists supervisory staff by identifying processing tables that need assistance

Working Conditions

• Some work shift flexibility is needed based on operational needs
• The usual work schedule is set as 8 hours, Monday-Friday, but may require: Working holidays / weekends
• Occasionally working only 4 hours a day
• Occasionally working up to 10 hours a day
• May be asked to take occasional days off when business needs do not require full staffing

Requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, to frequently lift floor-to-shoulder and/or lower from shoulder-to-waist and/or from should-to-floor up to 100 pounds and carry for 100 feet, and to push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds for a minimum of 200 feet

Must not engage in any political discussion during the election
