Job summary

Maricopa County Elections in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a Temporary Recruiter to help recruit poll workers for the 2026 election cycles. The role supports staffing needs for in-office, field, and customer-facing activities, with on-site work requirements.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years in office administration, recruitment, or HR roles, a high school diploma or GED, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. This is a temporary, high-demand assignment during election periods.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties in Administration, Recruitment, Human Resources, Elections, or a similar environment
  • High School diploma or GED
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Must be proficient in using computers and navigating Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Three years of experience with administrative and clerical procedures, such as managing files and records
  • One year of experience supporting election activities
  • One year of experience with Recruitment efforts
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Conducts phone interviews
  • Handles incoming and outgoing communications, in telecommunication and electronic media
  • Interacts inside the Board Worker Software System by confirming voter registration and updating poll worker records to ensure data is accurate and up to date
  • Reviews and processes applications or Get-Involved inquiries
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and various in-house specialized programs
  • Schedules training for poll workers each election cycle
  • Supports other assigned election activities as directed during election cycles

It's election season, and we need your help! Election season is a crucial time for accuracy and expediency. If you want to be a part of one of the most important government tasks by using your exemplary administrative and recruiting skills, this position is for you! As a Temporary Recruiter, you will assist with recruiting poll workers to ensure staffing requests are met and staffing levels are in place to support the 2026 election cycles. We're seeking to hire a Temporary Recruiter for our Recruitment Office located in Mesa, Arizona. This position requires the employee to work in the office, in the field, or in other customer-facing capacities for all hours worked.

Requirements
  • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties in Administration, Recruitment, Human Resources, Elections, or a similar environment
  • High School diploma or GED
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for therequired experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work irregular hours and shifts based on departmental needs
  • Must have an Arizona state driver’s license by the time of hire
  • Must be proficient in using computers and navigating Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • We Also Value Proficiency in professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Three years of experience with administrative and clerical procedures, such as managing files and records
  • One year of experience supporting election activities
  • One year of experience with Recruitment efforts
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
Job Contributions

Working Conditions
  • Full-time/Temporary/Holiday/Weekend/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
  • Work primarily occurs in a business office setting and is typically high-volume and fast-paced
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple screens, in a small font, while taking incoming calls
  • Requires the ability to perform sedentary work for extended periods, collaborate with peers in a team-oriented environment, conduct work independently, move/lift objects from floor to waist up to 25 pounds, and push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
  • Travel to the downtown Phoenix facility (MCTEC) on Election Day, and other locations on an as-needed basis, is required
  • Must not engage in any political discussion
  • Telework is not available at this time.
