Job summary

City of Battle Ground in Washington state is hiring two full-time, temporary maintenance workers for about 4 to 4.5 months. Under supervision, you will support operation, maintenance, and repair of storm drainage systems and operate various tools and equipment.

You must be at least 18, have a valid driver’s license, and be prepared for outdoor work in all weather. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable daily logging, with a focus on public safety and service to the community.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Experience in manual labor / maintenance / grounds keeping preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate maintenance equipment and power tools such as small tractors, rotary brush trimmer, weed trimmer, mowers, edgers and blowers, and maintain hand tools and assigned equipment in good working order.
• Maintain swales and open ditches as required to maintain good system operation.
• Maintain City rights-of-way and easements including mowing, blowing, edging, raking leaves, trimming, weeding, and removing trash.
• Assist with repair of potholes, patching, and sealing of pavement cracks.
• Perform vegetation control duties in public rights-of-way, including flower beds/baskets, landscape beds and other grass areas.
• Remove vegetation from storm water facilities, swales, etc.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner, provide information within the area of assignment, or forward to supervisor in efficient and timely manner.
