Job summary

City of Battle Ground seeks a qualified Engineering Technician to support environmental and drainage programs under the NPDES Phase II permit. You will assist engineers, inspect drainage systems, and help develop rules and annual reporting for permit compliance.

The role involves field inspections, data collection, report preparation, and collaboration with regional authorities to ensure stormwater quality across streams, ponds and wetlands in Battle Ground.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate degree is preferred.
• Two years of Engineering Technician experience preferred.
• Public sector experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect public and private drainage and stormwater facilities for compliance with the NPDES permit.
• Assist engineers in applying civil engineering principles to municipal projects.
• Prepare reports, permits, and other documentation for NPDES annual reporting.
• Coordinate with agencies including the Washington Dept. of Ecology as needed.
• Educate and outreach to industrial, commercial, and residential customers about water quality.
