Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Diverse Learners Teacher to instruct and manage students with diverse learning needs. Under school leadership, you will monitor progress, track outcomes, and support behavior within a structured classroom setting.

Requires Illinois ISBE licensure with the appropriate endorsement (LBS1) and a bachelor’s degree. Collaboration with case managers, counselors, and general educators is essential to promote student wellbeing and achievement.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Completion of the CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate deep understanding of content, pedagogy, and student knowledge to design coherent instruction and assessments.
• Create a respectful classroom culture with strong management of student behaviors.
• Design engaging instruction with appropriately challenging questions and aligned assessments.
• Exhibit strong communication and professional judgment in interactions with administration, colleagues, families, and students.
• Prioritize student safety through the Student Code of Conduct and school-wide discipline systems.
• Personalize learning through curriculum resources and technology.
