Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Com in Norfolk, VA seeks five Temporary Service Mechanics (J1-J4) for the 2nd Shift (3pm-11pm). Must access Navy installations with DBIDS/NAVSEA badges.

The role covers installation and maintenance of critical systems, with duties ranging from rigging to test and inspection across Navy and shipyard environments. Offered positions require leadership, adherence to NAVSEA standards, and the ability to work on a rotating schedule including Sundays.

Qualifications

• Must meet all Journeyman Temporary Service Mechanic 3 requirements.
• Must be able to oversee a small group of people.
• Must be able to plan, organize and prioritize work and handle problems.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain freeze protection and backflow preventers.
• Repair and overhaul temporary fire stations.
• Place connecting temperature water coolers aboard ship for drinking purposes.
