Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, Virginia seeks Outside Machinists (J1–J4) for 2nd shift (3pm–11pm) in the Welding department. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus shipyard experience; must read manuals and blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and meet journeyman requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent plus relevant work experience.
• Able to read and use tech manuals and blueprints and specification items.
• Journeyman 1-4 requirements applicable depending on level.

Responsibilities

• Perform machinery overhaul, installation, and testing of listed systems.
• Repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and propulsion components.
• Operate grinders, drills, presses, torque wrenches and related tools.
• Maintain safety and quality control; read specs and use measuring tools.
• Follow work order requirements and communicate with foreman.
