Job summary

Ball State University invites applications for Temporary Substitute Bus Drivers to operate university buses for shuttles and dispatched runs, serving students, faculty, staff and personnel.

Position requires a High School Diploma or GED, six months of verified driving experience, a valid CDL with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and ability to pass a post-offer drug test. Start date is 10/22/2026. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months of verified professional driving experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with a passenger endorsement.
• Must have a good driving record.
• Must pass post-offer drug and alcohol test.
• Must be able to perform mental and physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate passenger buses and shuttles on assigned routes.
• Inspect buses and report malfunctions; maintain cleanliness.
• Fuel daily and inspect exterior condition.
• Maintain radio/phone contact with Transportation Office and report delays.
• Keep mileage and passenger logs for each task.
• Assist and direct disabled individuals on/off vehicles.
• Provide route feedback and improvement suggestions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
