Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking temporary Hosts to welcome guests in Rohr's on-campus dining. You will use OpenTable to seat guests, coordinate with servers, and ensure a joyful, professional experience that reflects the university's hospitality standards.

This on-call role pays $17.50/hr and supports events and daily campus operations. Responsibilities include greeting guests, managing reservations, answering phones, presenting menus, and updating guest profiles.

Qualifications

• Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Positive, respectful communication and listening skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours).
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products.

Responsibilities

• Seat guests using OpenTable and manage seating.
• Gather information for front of house, back of house team, and the guest.
• Seat guests to optimize dining experience and service flow.
• Present menu and coordinate with server for seated table.
• Answer phones according to service standards.
• Confirm reservations with guests.
• Execute guest interactions with joy and professionalism while showing knowledge and respect.
• Note special notes in reservations including allergies or occasions and update management.

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety(UOES) division is currently hiring for temporary/on-call Hosts atRohr'sin our campus Hospitality department. The UOES Division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations.

TheHost/Hostesswill engage with our internal and external guests in a professional, welcoming, consistent and joyful manner in order to ensure the experience is a memorable one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the OpenTable software to seat, assign tables, and other restaurant duties
• Information gathering for the front of house, back of house team members, and the guest
• Seating guests to optimize the dining experience, pacing of the service team, and the optimal use of the dining room.
• Menu presentation and communicating with server to seated table
• Answering phones according to service standards
• Reservation confirmation with guests
• Execute all guest interactions with a joy for serving others; all while demonstrating professionalism, job knowledge, grace, respect, and friendliness.
• Alert server about all special notes in a reservation including allergies, special occasions, past experiences, etc.
• Update Guest Experience Profile each visit and alert management of any issues
