Lubbock County in Texas seeks a dedicated outreach and program development specialist to expand ADR services in partnership with USDA-funded groups. You will create and maintain a contact database, plan presentations, and build collaborations with communities and stakeholders.
The role requires excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work with the public, and willingness to travel up to 50%. A college degree or equivalent experience and mediator training are preferred.
Researches and develops opportunities to expand the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services and programs offered by the Department, primarily with groups funded or supported by the USDA. Performs the required program development activities for projects and concepts as assigned and identify other potential initiatives. Creates and/or maintains a database of contact information for utilization in outreach. Informs and educates citizens and organizations in the service area about dispute resolution and mediation in particular through meetings, presentations, and telephone to further enhance outreach initiatives. Position requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact with public. Overnight travel throughout Texas is required and could be up to 50% of time.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with proficiency and minimum supervision. Prefer college graduate or equivalent job related experience. Must be a trained mediator or be able to complete Basic Mediation Training as available within Department. Good communication skills, organization skills, ability to interact with the public, and ability to prioritize are required. Texas motor vehicle operator's license and automobile insurance or available alternate means of transportation in the relevant service area is required. Must not have been convicted of a Crime of Moral Turpitude.
Prefer individual with knowledge of rural Texas and/or agricultural-related activities; individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; outstanding grammar and vocabulary; experience in public speaking; capable of researching programs and projects in a variety of ways, utilizing multiple sources and resources; knowledge of office procedures; ability to operate office equipment; proficient in a variety of computer software programs; ability to learn about ADR and USDA services; organizational and multi-tasking skills; energetic, independent and self-motivated team player; follow oral and written instruction; maintain effective working relationships; communicate with the public.
