Job summary

Maricopa County Elections is seeking a Temporary Mail Clerk to assist in opening and processing ballots with mail-opening machinery. You will move mail, support pre-tabulation processes, and help maintain an organized mail room.

The role requires standing for long periods, occasional heavy lifting, and the ability to work overtime during the election cycle. A high school diploma or GED is required, and some experience in postal or customer service is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be a registered voter or able to become one in Arizona by time of hire.
• Must pass a background screening and may require fingerprinting.
• Overtime availability may be required during election cycles.

Responsibilities

• Operate mail-opening machinery to open ballots in bulk.
• Move and process mail; assist with pre-tabulation activities.
• Push/pull racks weighing up to 150 pounds and postal cages up to 250 pounds.
• Assist with end-of-day cleanup and mail room organization.
• Work under livestream cameras and in view of political observers.
