Job summary

Maricopa County Elections seeks a Temporary Ballot Tabulation Center Inspector to support the November General Election. You will organize and process ballots, provide guidance, and perform data entry in a fast-paced environment.

This seasonal role requires a high school diploma or GED, voter registration in AZ by hire, and the ability to stand for extended periods; bilingual English/Spanish is valued. Overtime hours are expected during election cycles.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • One or more years of general office experience is valued.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the election process by organizing and processing ballots.
  • Provide guidance to voters and staff, and perform data entry.
  • Assist adjudication teams and maintain legible documentation of ballot processing.
  • Support other divisions within Elections or the Recorder's Office as assigned.

Pay Range

Pay for this position is $18 hourly.
This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek. This is a temporary position supporting the November General Election with an anticipated start date in October.

We Require

This position requires a high school diploma or GED.


Other Requirements

  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must be an Independent or Party Not Designated registered voter
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary
  • Must have legible penmanship

Job Contributions

  • Assists Adjudication teams when they are unsure about a voter's intent by providing guidance and clarification
  • Stands throughout the assignment, moving between teams as necessary to provide guidance
  • Maintains accurate and legible documentation of ballot processing
  • Assists other divisions within Elections or the Recorder's Office with daily operations and additional job duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Full-time/Temporary/Holidays/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
  • Requires upper extremity repetitive motion, the ability to review small fonts on hard copy or computer screen, and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • All operations will be conducted under Livestream cameras and in the presence of political observers
  • Closed-toed shoes must be worn at all times
  • Must not engage in any political discussion

  • Tabulation machine
  • Scanners
  • Microsoft Office products
