Job summary

The City of Ellensburg is seeking a Temporary Accountant in the Finance Department to provide backfill during the ERP implementation. The role covers accounting, reconciliation, financial analysis, and reporting across areas like accounts payable, payroll, cash receipting, and general ledger.

This eighteen-to-twenty-four-month assignment requires accuracy, independence, and the ability to learn quickly. A four-year degree in accounting/finance and at least three years of governmental accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance required.
• At least three (3) years of intermediate to advanced governmental accounting experience including BARS.
• Must be a quick learner who can work independently within department policies and procedures.
• Must be able to get along well with others and be adaptable to changing assignments/priorities.
• Equivalents may be considered in lieu of some requirements as determined by Management.

Responsibilities

• Provide temporary backfill for critical Finance Department accounting duties during ERP implementation.
• Maintain accounts payable, payroll, treasury functions, inventory, fixed assets, project accounting, and general ledger processes.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, documentation, and supporting workpapers.
• Support assigned budget, financial analysis, audit, and special projects.
• Support transition planning and cross-training to preserve continuity of Finance Department functions during implementation.
