Job summary

City of Ellensburg is seeking a Temporary Accountant in the Finance Department. The role supports the ERP financial management system implementation, handling complex accounting tasks, reconciliations, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance is required.
• At least three years of intermediate to advanced governmental accounting experience including BARS and GASB.
• Must be a quick learner who can work independently and maintain accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Provide temporary backfill for critical Finance Department accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and operations during ERP implementation.
• Maintain knowledge of and assist with accounts payable, payroll, cash receipting, treasury, inventory, fixed assets, project accounting, and general ledger processes.
• Collaborate with City departments to understand processes and workflows.
• Perform audits, reconciliations, data validation, and data extraction for accounting transactions.
• Reconcile and maintain accounts in accordance with BARS, GAAP, and city policies.
