North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Temporary Genetics Research Technician to join the Applied Ecology department. You will conduct genetic assays of honey bees, including DNA/RNA extractions, PCR reactions, and qRT-PCR, to support active laboratory operations.

The role may involve occasional field sampling, dissections, and coordinating a summer internship program, with schedule flexibility and potential weekend work.

Qualifications

• Experience with genetic and basic laboratory techniques.
• Prior experience with qRT-PCR.
• Prior beekeeping experience preferred.
• Experience with insect dissection and nucleic acid extraction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct genetic assays of honey bees in a lab setting.
• Perform DNA/RNA extractions and PCR/qRT-PCR.
• Dissections and gel electrophoresis as required.
• Support field sampling of bees and internship program coordination.
