We are seeking a reliable, friendly, and organized Temporary Front Desk Receptionist to fill in for one of two receptionists at a busy physical therapy office. This is a shared front-desk position, working alongside our other receptionist to ensure patients receive excellent customer service and that daily administrative responsibilities are handled efficiently. The ideal candidate is professional, personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Assignment duration mid-October - mid-February Pay - $19 - $22 DOE
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Check patients in and assist with the front-desk registration process.
- Collect patient copays, balances, and other amounts owed.
- Contact physician/doctor offices to obtain required referrals, prescriptions, orders, or other paperwork.
- Complete a cover sheet for all new patients and ensure required information is properly documented.
- Process an average of approximately 15 new patients per day.
- Check incoming faxes regularly and distribute or process paperwork as needed.
- Answer patient questions and direct questions to the appropriate staff member when necessary.
- Assist the other receptionist with additional phone calls, paperwork, and front-desk duties as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records and paperwork.
- Provide courteous, professional service to patients, physicians' offices, and other callers.
- Perform other administrative and front-office duties as needed to support the physical therapy office.
Qualifications
- Previous receptionist, front-desk, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and telephone skills.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Comfortable handling payments and maintaining accuracy with financial transactions.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy office.
- Professional, friendly, and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a two-person front-desk team.
- Dependable and punctual.
