Job summary

The Salvation Army in Fort Madison, IA is seeking a temporary Pantry Assistant for a 6-8 week assignment to support the food pantry intake process. Duties include greeting visitors, handling calls, entering client information, stocking pantry items, and attending meetings.

You will assist with client referrals, rent/utility assistance, and hotel vouchers as needed. Requirements include a GED or high school diploma, ability to multitask, proficiency with MS Office, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Must pass all applicable background checks.
Must possess a valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

Greet visitors/clients in a friendly manner.
Answer phone and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
Secure and enter necessary client information into database.
Ensure pantry equipment is stocked and cleaned.
Attend meetings as required.
Sort and stock personal care items.
Serve as a backup for the Social Services Case Worker and assist clients with intake interviews, client referrals, rent/utility assistance and hotel vouchers.
All other duties as assigned.
