Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a temporary pantry assistant in Fort Madison, IA for 6 to 8 weeks. You will handle intake, greet clients, and support the social services team with referrals and urgent needs.

You must have a High School diploma or GED, be able to use Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access, and complete background checks and Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire. Valid driver's license and flexibility are required.

**This is a Temporary position for 6 - 8 weeks**

Summary/Primary Purpose: Food pantry including the intake process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors/clients in a friendly manner.
• Answer phone and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
• Secure and enter necessary client information into database.
• Ensure pantry equipment is stocked and cleaned.
• Attend meetings as required.
• Responsible for sorting and stocking personal care items.
• Serves as a backup for the Social Services Case Worker and assist clients with various needs including, but not limited to intake interviews, Client Referrals, Rent/Utility Assistance and
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
• Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
