Job summary

The Salvation Army in Fort Madison, IA is hiring a temporary pantry assistant for 6–8 weeks. You will greet visitors, manage the intake process, and enter client data into the database. The role supports pantry operations and assists with referrals and hotel vouchers as needed.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and strong MS Office skills. You will handle multiple tasks with attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and comply with background checks and driver license

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Intermediate MS Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
Data entry, payroll and timekeeping system access via web-based tools.
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.
Background checks and valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

Greet visitors/clients in a friendly manner.
Answer phone and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
Secure and enter necessary client information into database.
Ensure pantry equipment is stocked and cleaned.
Attend meetings as required.
Sort and stock personal care items.
Back up for Social Services Case Worker on intake, referrals, rent/utilities and hotel vouchers.
All other duties as assigned.
