On Call / Non-Benefited position / No Guarantee of hours
This position performs a variety of clerical duties in the County Clerk elections office according to prescribed procedures, rules, and methods. Position assists with elections as needed throughout the year. Hours vary and may involve daytime to evening hours.
An Elections Worker must be a registered voter of the state of Oregon. By statute, candidate is required to disclose party affiliation prior to hiring. Some roles require the applicant to possess a current driver’s license in the applicant’s state of residence and have an acceptable driving history in accordance with Douglas County driving policy. While working in this classification, an individual may be paid a different hourly wage depending upon which function they are performing at any given time. The hourly wage is not cumulative.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. However, the following is preferred:
basic knowledge of general office practices and procedures, of English composition, spelling and grammar; basic knowledge of modern office equipment, including computers and their intended use. Skill in and ability to perform basic typing, filing, calculating math, counting; understand and follow written and oral communications, carry out work assignments with attention to detail and accuracy; work under supervision and with general instructions; to meet and assist clients, staff, and the general public in a courteous manner; understand, convey and safely apply readily recognizable standards and procedures.
Position requires a considerable amount of driving. Finalist will be required to provide a court print driving record that meets the Douglas County Driver Policy, as part of contingent offer of employment.
While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background as part of a contingent offer of employment. Conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from employment.
