Job summary

SmileHQ and Elite Orthodontics in Bowie, MD is seeking an experienced Temporary General Dentist to cover maternity leave. This part-time assignment runs December 2026 through April 2027 on Thursdays and Fridays, taking over a full patient caseload from day one.

You will deliver comprehensive general dentistry for patients of all ages, supervise hygienists and assistants, and maintain HIPAA-compliant electronic records with modern tech like digital X-rays and Itero.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school.
• Active DC Dental License; DC licensure required for the role.
• Active DEA license and CPR/BLS certification.
• 1–2+ years of clinical practice preferred.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Temporary General Dentist to join our established practice in Bowie MD, while our provider is on maternity leave.

This part-time temporary position runs from December 2026 through April 2027 (Thurs & Fri). You will be joining a supportive, highly skilled team and taking over a well-maintained, full patient caseload from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver proficient care and comprehensive general dentistry care to patients of all ages (examinations, restorations, endodontics, extractions, crowns/bridges, and preventative care).
• Formulate, discuss, and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Direct and supervise dental hygienists and dental assistants.
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic dental records (EDR) in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Ensure strict adherence to OSHA & HIPAA.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted Dental License in the District of Columbia (D.C.).
• Certifications: Active DEA license and CPR/BLS certification.
• Experience: Minimum of [1–2+] years of clinical practice preferred.
• Strong communication, diagnostic, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to excellent patient care.
