Job summary

Allegan Family Dentistry is seeking a temporary Dental Assistant for maternity leave coverage from January to March 2027. The role involves chairside assistance, radiographs, room prep, and maintaining infection control in a supportive, team-oriented office.

Temporary Dental Assistant – Maternity Leave Coverage
January–March 2027
We are a friendly, established general dental practice seeking an experienced Dental
Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis while one of our team members is on
maternity leave. This position is expected to run from January through March 2027 and is ideal for an assistant looking for a defined short-term position in a supportive, organized, and team-oriented dental office.

Schedule

4 days per week — approximately 35 paid hours
Monday: 7:30 AM–5:15 PM
Tuesday: 6:30 AM–4:15 PM
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: 7:30 AM–5:15 PM
Friday: 6:30 AM–4:15 PM
1-hour unpaid lunch each workday

Compensation

$24–$27 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
We also offer a $750 completion bonus for successfully working through the agreed maternity-leave coverage period.

What You'll Do

As a Dental Assistant, you'll work closely with our dentists and clinical team to provide an efficient, comfortable, and positive experience for our patients.

Responsibilities include:

• Chairside assisting for a variety of general dental procedures
• Preparing treatment rooms, instruments, and materials
• Taking dental radiographs
• Maintaining proper sterilization and infection-control protocols

Assisting with restorative procedures, crowns, impressions/scans, and other general dentistry procedures

• Helping maintain efficient patient and clinical flow throughout the day
• Providing patients with a friendly and comfortable experience
• Communicating and working collaboratively with our dentists, hygienists, assistants, and front-office team

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, professional, friendly with patients,
organized, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative dental team.
Previous dental assisting experience is strongly preferred. CDA/RDA credentials are a
plus but are not required for the right candidate. Experience with Open Dental is helpful but not required.
