Job summary

NC Office of State Human Resources, in partnership with the Department of Public Instruction, seeks a Cook (S) for a temporary assignment at Ocracoke, Hyde County. The role focuses on preparing and cooking all food during scheduled times and supporting menu planning.

This temporary position is a short-term role with no leave or retirement benefits; health insurance may be available for long hours under the HDHP. Serv Safe certification may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in food preparation at commercial or institutional settings.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain food safety standards.
• Knowledge of proper kitchen sanitation and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook all food during scheduled times.
• Assist the Food Services Supervisor with menu planning and recipe research.
• Ensure the dining area is clean and sanitary at all times.
• May be required to obtain Serv Safe Certification.
• Set up dining room for meals and ensure food is appealing and safe.
