Job summary

American Samoa on-site role with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The entry professional will help keep temple ordinances accessible, maintain a safe and uplifting environment for patrons, and operate temples to standards set by leadership.

Responsibilities include coordinating routine maintenance, budgeting support, and ensuring HVAC, water treatment, electrical, and communications systems run efficiently.

Qualifications

• 4 years of any combination of related experience or progress toward (or completion of) a relevant university degree or an industry-recognized certification.
• Basic understanding of physical plant operations and preventive maintenance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Licensed as required by local law.
• Able to stand, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
• Able to independently lift and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs./23 kg and team lift up to 100 lbs./45 kg occasionally.
• Good understanding of the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Understanding of tools and simple repair work
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team
• The applicants must have legal right to work in American Samoa.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vendor coordination for routine maintenance and supplies.
• Provide data entry and support for budgeting.
• Assist the Temple Facilities Manager (TFM) with maintenance planning and organization using finance, equipment, work order, and related software tools.
• Identify and report issues related to facility operations, safety, and maintenance; support compliance and safety measures.
• Coordinate inquiries and complaints professionally under guidance of the TFM.
• Support Temple Facilities Manager in supervision when absent and provide direction to Temple Facilities Assistants.
• Perform maintenance in assigned areas including HVAC systems, water treatment, laundry equipment, baptismal font filtration, electrical systems, lighting, and electronic systems.
• Service and adjust projection, sound, and communication systems.
• Make modifications to temple mechanical or electrical systems as needed.
