Job summary

Alta Environmental and Infrastructure in Tempe, AZ is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Lab Technician to join our materials testing team. This hands-on role covers laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete on construction projects, with opportunities for students or recent graduates to gain practical knowledge and industry exposure.

The ideal candidate has a passion for materials testing, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate in civil/construction-related field.
• Interest in materials testing and quality control.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform soil tests: moisture, Atterberg limits, compaction.
• Test aggregates: gradation, specific gravity, absorption, cleanliness.
• Assist with asphalt testing: binder content, gradation, compaction, stability.
• Conduct concrete tests: slump, air content, unit weight, cylinder strength.
• Record and summarize data per ASTM/AASHTO standards.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
• Follow safety protocols in a clean lab environment.
• Assist senior technicians and engineers as needed.
