Job summary

The City of San Antonio is seeking a temporary Pre-K classroom assistant for the Pre-K 4 SA program. You will support teachers with learning experiences, prepare materials, and help with daily activities for 4-year-olds. You may assist with loading/unloading bus passengers, and ensure safety per licensing standards.

Work hours are 6:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with schedule variation based on departmental needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• CDA credential OR 12 college hours in Education or Childhood Development.
• Previous experience with young children in educational or care settings.
• Ability to pass DFPS background check.
• Certified early childhood teacher.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing early-age curriculum in the classroom.
• Plan and prepare learning environment and materials; keep classroom organized.
• Observe progress and communicate with educators.
• Prepare and deliver instructional material to groups and individuals.
• Maintain student records and prepare reports on performance and attendance.
• Assist with maintaining order and safety in transportation, classroom, and play areas.
• Collaborate with Master/Assistant Teachers during scheduled breaks.
• Participate in required professional development.
