Job summary

Alliant Energy in Wisconsin is seeking a Power Plant Assistant to perform rounds around turbine, boiler and fuel handling equipment. The role includes 12-hour rotating days from 6:00am to 6:00pm and nights from 6:00pm to 6:00am, with potential vacation coverage.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining turbine and boiler auxiliaries, oil purification, and ensuring all equipment runs safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in an electric generating facility is preferred.
• Ability to read instructions and perform basic measurements.

Responsibilities

• Keep turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment clean and operating.
• Care for and purify station oil supply; lubricate bearings and equipment.
• Ensure major and minor auxiliary equipment operate properly.
• Operate ash and slag handling equipment.
• Perform tests, take readings and record data.
• Start up, shut down, and maintain turbine and boiler auxiliaries.
• Perform routine maintenance when not operating.
• Follow procedures and safety practices.
