Job summary

Alliant Energy's Columbia Energy Center in Pardeeville, WI, is offering an Equipment Operator Operations - Special Temp. position to gain hands-on experience in the power industry.

You will work a 12-hour rotating schedule (6:00am–6:00pm or 6:00pm–6:00am) performing tasks around the plant, including turbine, boiler and coal handling operations. The role involves maintaining equipment, taking readings, performing routine maintenance, and following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience and/or equivalent industrial experience in an electric generating facility.
• Power Plant Assistant is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keeps turbine, boiler and coal handling equipment neat, clean and operating properly.
• Cares for and purifies the station oil supply and keeps bearings lubricated.
• Assures that all major and minor auxiliary equipment are operating properly.
• Operates all ash and slag handling equipment.
• Performs tests, takes readings and records data.
• Starts up, shuts down and cares for all turbine and boiler auxiliaries.
• Performs maintenance work of ordinary nature when not operating.
• Follows established procedures and safety practices.
