Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm is seeking a RCCL Inspector III-V in Austin to regulate residential child-care facilities, conduct inspections and investigations, and provide technical assistance to providers. The role emphasizes risk assessment, documentation, and compliance with minimum standards.

The position offers telework eligibility, frequent travel, and opportunities for advancement within the CCR program. A four-year degree or equivalent regulatory experience is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Regulatory experience such as inspections and investigations preferred.
• Inspector IV requires highly complex inspection/investigation experience.
• Inspector V requires leadership or training experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect general residential operations and child-placing agencies; cite deficiencies and plan corrective action.
• Investigate complaints; ensure timely initiation and action on investigations.
• Process permit applications and issuances; manage time frames and documentation.
• Identify risk and refer to Child-Care Enforcement when needed; support compliance improvements.
• Provide training and technical assistance to providers; engage with stakeholders.
• Travel as required to perform inspections and investigations.
• Support regulatory tasks during DFPS investigations of abuse or neglect.
