Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Houston is hiring a Residential Child Care Licensing Inspector III. The role inspects residential child-care facilities, investigates alleged violations, and issues permits and actions to ensure the safety of Texas children.

The position requires a four-year degree or equivalent regulatory experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license. Telework is eligible; travel up to 75% is expected, with day shifts and regular full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Experience in regulatory inspections and investigations preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors residential operations and agencies, documents compliance, and cites deficiencies with corrective actions.
• Plans inspections, evaluates standards, and conducts risk-based reviews within required timeframes.
• Investigates complaints and supports enforcement actions with timely reporting.
• Evaluates new applications for permits and issues determinations.
• Provides training and technical assistance to providers; travels as needed.
