Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm (HHSC) in Texas seeks a Residential Child Care Licensing Inspector III–V to oversee licensing, investigations, and permit actions across the state. The role monitors facilities, conducts inspections, reviews plans, and enforces minimum standards to protect children in residential care settings.

Travel up to 75%, flexible hours, and telework eligibility accompany a demanding field schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or experience that is equivalent to a four-year degree.
• Experience in regulatory services such as inspections is preferred.
• Knowledge of Texas laws and regulation.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect facilities and regulate residential child-care operations to ensure compliance with minimum standards.
• Investigate complaints and allegations of violations and take timely corrective actions.
• Evaluate new applications for general residential operations and issue permits.
• Monitor licensing processes, background checks, and fee payments; cite deficiencies and provide guidance.
• Provide training and technical assistance to residential child-care providers and participate in stakeholder meetings.
• Travel up to 75% and be flexible with work hours as needed.
