Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin seeks a Program Specialist V to oversee CHW and CHW instructor certification programs, review curricula, and ensure compliance with state rules. You will interpret statutes and provide guidance to applicants, training entities, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities include training, data analysis, and program oversight to improve certification outcomes, with a telework option and in-person Austin presence 2–3 days weekly.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in or major course work in a relevant field such as education, public health, health promotion or health education.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience reviewing, evaluating, or processing applications, curricula, certifications, approvals, or similar program materials to determine compliance with applicable requirements, standards, policies, or procedures.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience providing training, consultation, technical assistance, or guidance to internal or external stakeholders on program requirements, standards, policies, procedures, or processes.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, evaluates, and processes initial and renewal applications for CHW and CHW Instructor training curricula certification; ensures compliance with statutes, rules, policies, and standards.
• Provides training and technical assistance to public and private agencies, training centers, and organizations regarding certification requirements and processes.
• Supports program oversight, data analysis, and reporting to monitor timeliness and improve certification processes.
• Performs other duties to support program operations and agency objectives.
