Job summary

Upper Valley Medical Center is seeking a part-time Telephone Operator for 3pm to 11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays. You will handle incoming, outgoing, and interfacility calls, provide directory assistance, and relay on-call information.

The role requires strong keyboard skills, reliable MS Office literacy, and excellent communication. You will monitor critical alarms, dispatch emergency teams, maintain logs for regulatory reporting, and support patients and staff with courteous

Qualifications

• High School completion / GED is required.
• Typing test with 30 words per minute minimum.
• 1–3 years of job-related experience preferred, especially as a telephone operator or high-call-volume role.
• Customer service experience and ability to interact with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming, outgoing, interfacility, and directory calls.
• Provide on-call information, patient information and directory assistance.
• Monitor critical alarms and coordinate emergency response.
• Communicate emergencies via PBX, Vocera, paging systems, and on-call scheduling.
• Maintain logs of emergencies for regulatory reporting (e.g., Code Red).
• Process pages via audio, wireless messaging, and radio equipment.
• Dispatch maintenance and clinical engineering work orders as needed.

UPPER VALLEY MEDICAL CENTERTELEPHONE OPERATOR3PM TO 11:30PM WITH REQUIRED ROTATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYSPART TIME / 40 HOURS PER PAY PERIODThe Telephone Operator provides a welcoming and positive first impression of Premier Health, processing incoming, outgoing, network and interfacility calls regarding hospital services, provides on-call information and processing, patient information, and directory assistance. The operator monitors and responds to critical alarms (fire, gas, bone freezer, Hill-Rom-Alert Notification (Code Blue), Weather Station). The operator communicates the emergency using the public broadcast system (PBX), wireless and/or Vocera messaging, enterprise on-call scheduling system, to ensure appropriate response teams or on-call physician(s) respond to the emergency in life/death situations. The operator monitors/documents a response team log and a log of each emergency for regulatory reporting (i.e. Code Red). The Telephone Operator processes pages via audio, wireless messaging, and/or radio equipment.The Atrium Medical Center (AMC) operator provides dispatch services, entering and processing facility work orders for Maintenance and patient clinical work orders for Clinical Engineering.
