Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments respecting age-specific factors.
• Identifies patient/family educational needs and readiness.
• Anticipates potential complications and discharge needs.
• Develops and updates a nursing care plan with input from the team.
• Communicates with physicians and other providers about patient status.
• Monitors patient response to treatment and initiates nursing interventions.
• Prioritizes care as patient condition changes.
• Assists with discharge planning and patient education.
• Adheres to standards of care and OSHA guidelines.
• Documents treatments, assessments, and patient responses.
• Involves patient/family in care planning and teaching.
• Coordinates care with other departments and community services.
• Evaluates outcomes of nursing actions and adjusts plan as needed.
