Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Monitor Technician to provide continuous surveillance of electrocardiographic monitoring under general supervision. The role initiates monitoring on physician orders, maintains ECG waveforms, and alerts nursing staff when rhythms are dysrhythmic.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, current CPR/BLS, good written and verbal English, and the ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms; six months’ experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR or BLS competency training required.
• Employee will be required to pass competencies for this position.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required.
• Ability to communicate clearly with nursing, administration, and physicians
• Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
• Willingness to be crossed trained to other areas.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by communicating them to others.
• Initiates electro cardio graphic monitoring when a physician’s order is received and validated.
• Maintains continuous surveillance of EKG wave forms, with notification of responsible nursing personnel for dysrhythmia
• Discontinues telemetry when ordered.
• Performs unit support duties such as answering the telephone and responding to patient calls.
• Utilizes knowledge of electro cardio graphic monitoring in continuous surveillance of telemetry patients.
• Utilizes computer system accurately, entering required data for telemetry monitoring.
• Monitors equipment for optimum effectiveness and reports issues to supervision
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Other duties as assigned.
