Job summary

Shawntech Communications seeks a Telecommunications Technician to troubleshoot and service inmate technology systems at state facilities. You will address basic telephone repair and networking needs, with emphasis on wiring, access points, and VOIP-related issues.

You will travel up to 25% across Virginia, work Monday through Friday, and adapt to a jail environment with strict security protocols. A valid driver's license and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, including installation, repair and troubleshooting of telecom systems.
• 2+ years of experience with computer/network installation and repair; VLAN knowledge and VOIP a plus.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
• High School Diploma or GED; some college coursework preferred.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficient in Windows OS, MS Office and related software.
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 10 lbs and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel.
• Must pass criminal background screens.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, correct and service inmate technology systems and basic telephone systems.
• Maintain, repair and operate onsite telecommunications hardware and networking gear.
• Build and maintain relationships with facility staff and contractors to resolve onsite issues.
• Travel to multiple facilities; overtime and after-hours calls may be required.
• Provide onsite instruction and training for site personnel as needed.
• Operate in secured jail environment with strict safety guidelines.
