Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Telecoms Network Operations Centre (NOC) Analyst to join our client’s operations team in Welkom. The role focuses on monitoring, maintenance, and incident resolution for a large telecommunications network, acting as the first line of defense against outages and performance degradations.

The role is hybrid, with on-site requirements for critical operations and remote work during specific periods, offering a stable, high-performing environment and opportunities

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Network Operations Centre (NOC) or similar network monitoring role.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and common hardware.
• Experience with network monitoring software (SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
• Certification such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using real-time NOC tools.
• Identify, diagnose and resolve network incidents and outages promptly.
• Perform first-level troubleshooting for broadband, mobile, and VoIP services.
• Respond to alerts and initiate incident management per procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering and field teams to ensure timely resolutions.
• Maintain detailed records of events, actions taken and resolutions.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and technically adept Telecoms Network Operations Centre (NOC) Analyst to join their operations team in Welkom. This role is essential for the continuous monitoring, maintenance, and resolution of issues within our client's extensive telecommunications network. You will be the first line of defense against network outages and performance degradations, ensuring seamless service delivery to customers across the Free State. This hybrid role requires you to be on-site for critical operations and collaborative sessions, while offering flexibility for remote work during specific periods, contributing to a stable and high-performing network environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using advanced NOC tools and systems in real-time.


• Identify, diagnose, and resolve network incidents and outages promptly, escalating issues as needed.


• Perform first-level troubleshooting for various network services, including broadband, mobile, and VoIP.


• Respond to alerts and alarms, initiating incident management processes according to established procedures.


• Collaborate with engineering and field support teams to ensure timely resolution of complex network problems.


• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all network events, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a Network Operations Centre (NOC) or similar network monitoring role.


• Solid understanding of telecommunications network principles, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and common hardware.


• Experience with network monitoring software (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix) is essential.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and make critical decisions under time constraints.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
