Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Telecommunications Mechanic II to support the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) at Goodfellow Air Force Base. The selected candidate will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and document voice, data, fiber optic, and copper telecommunications infrastructure supporting critical Air Force communications systems.

This role requires a motivated technician who can work independently or as part of a team while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; technical training preferred.
• Three or more years installing, maintaining, and repairing telecom systems.
• Experience with copper and fiber optic cabling (ISP/OSP) and VoIP/telephony.
• Ability to read manuals, wiring diagrams, and telecom records.
• Security+ certification and DoD/Federal telecom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecom systems and equipment.
• Perform PMIs and diagnose copper/fiber optic cabling issues.
• Install, terminate, splice, test, and certify cabling.
• Support VoIP and analog/digital telephone systems; manage adds/moves/changes.
• Update maintenance records, drawings, and infrastructure documentation.
• Coordinate with Government personnel and customers; participate in after-hours on-call.
