Job summary

Bowhead seeks Telecommunications Mechanic I to support the O&M of the BTS at Goodfellow Air Force Base. You will assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of voice, data, fiber optic, and copper systems supporting critical Air Force communications infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of telecommunications systems and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Ability to install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling under guidance.
• Reading and interpreting work orders, wiring diagrams, technical manuals.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and telecom test equipment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications equipment and infrastructure under the direction of senior technicians.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and corrective maintenance on telecommunications systems.
• Install, terminate, test, and label copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and telecommunications test equipment safely and effectively.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, work orders, and engineering drawings.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and other required documentation.
• Respond to routine service requests and assist with emergency outage restoration as required.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and Government personnel.
• Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
