Job summary

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove is seeking a part-time Communications Clerk to operate the hospital paging system, AmCom and other telecom equipment. You will handle inbound/outbound calls for patients, staff, physicians and the public with courtesy and professionalism.

Responsibilities include recording and routing messages, updating on-call info, and coordinating with the Doctors Answering Service.

• Handle calls on Doctors Answering Service and perform board checks for timely message delivery.

• Enter pager blocks and update physician vacation/on-call information.
• Assist patients, staff, and physicians with outgoing calls and place long distance calls.
• Report equipment issues to Telecommunications Analyst and arrange repairs.
• Assist in replacement service of patient telephones and ensure code team dispatch.

Pay Range:

Major Responsibilities:

Ensure effective and efficient operation of paging system, AmCom Answering Service, Alcatel communication systems, and other department related equipment (fax, printers, computer, etc.)1)Process incoming calls for patients, staff, physicians, and public in a courteous and professional manner.2)Process outgoing calls for staff and physicians in a courteous and professional manner.3)Process incoming and outgoing calls on the Doctors Answering Service. Perform board checks to ensure a timely delivery of all messages(physician and office).4)Record and transmit messages for physicians and office personnel on the Doctors Answering Service5)Enter pager blocks for physicians. Enter physician vacation time and on-call information immediately whether on exception scheduler or Remarks.6)Assist patients, staff, and physicians in placing outgoing calls in a courteous and professional manner.7)Place long distance calls for staff/adminstration in a courteous and professional manner.8)Report all telephone equipment issues to Telecommunications Analyst by way of the Help desk9)Report internal specific phone trouble to repair service to the Telecommunications analysts by way of the Help desk10)Assist in replacement service of patient telephonesEnsure the code team is dispatched following hospital protocol.2)Notify Cardiac Cath Lab of emergency procedures to be performed on off hours.1).
